Environmental Policy 

IDÉ House of Brands acknowledges that that our business conduct can have negative impact on people, society, and the environment. We have a responsibility to the environment beyond legal and regulatory requirements and consider responsible business conduct to be a prerequisite for sustainable development, meaning that today’s generation get their needs covered without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs1.  

We are committed to reduce our environmental impact and continually improve our environmental performance, as an integral part of our business strategy and operating methods. We encourage all our customers and suppliers to do the same. 

Responsibility

Managing Director, Nina Lauritzen, is responsible for ensuring that the environmental policy is implemented. However, all employees have a responsibility in their area to ensure that the aims and objectives of the policy are met. 

Due diligence 

IDÉ House of Brands shall conduct due diligence for responsible business conduct. This involves conducting risk assessments to identify potential negative impact on people, society, and the environment and to stop, prevent and reduce such impact. The measures put in place are monitored and their effect evaluated. The measures are communicated to those affected by our actions. If our activities are found to cause or contribute to negative impact on people, society, or the environment, we will stop the activities and seek to provide remedy. If our supplier is responsible for the negative impact, the supplier is responsible for providing remedy

Policy Aims

We endeavor to:

  • Comply with and exceed all relevant regulatory requirements. 
  • Continually improve and monitor environmental performance. 
  • Continually improve and reduce environmental impacts. 
  • Incorporate environmental factors into business decisions. 
  • Incorporate circular economy in our product development. 
  • Incorporate waste, recycling, and upcycling. 
  • Increase employee awareness and training. 
  • Increase supplier awareness and training. 
  • We will monitor our carbon print. 

Paper

  • We will minimize the use of paper in the office. 
  • We will reduce packaging as much as possible. 
  • We will seek to buy recycled and recyclable paper products. 
  • We will reuse and recycle all paper where possible. 

Plastic

  • We will minimize the use of plastic as packaging. 
  • We will seek to buy recycled and recyclable plastic products. 

Energy and water

  • We will seek to reduce the amount of energy used as much as possible. 
  • Lights and electrical equipment will be switched off when not in use. 
  • Heating will be adjusted with energy consumption in mind. 
  • ​​​​​​​The energy consumption and efficiency of new products will be considered when purchasing. 

Office supplies

  • We will evaluate if the need can be met in another way.
  • We will evaluate if renting/sharing is an option before purchasing equipment. 
  • We will evaluate the environmental impact of any new products we intend to purchase. 
  • We will favor more environmentally friendly and efficient products wherever possible. 
  • ​​​​​​​We will reuse and recycle everything we are able to. 

Maintenance and Cleaning 

  • Cleaning materials used will be as environmentally friendly as possible.  
  • Materials used in office refurbishment will be as environmentally friendly as possible. 
  • ​​​​​​​We will only use licensed and appropriate organizations to dispose of waste. 

Culture

  • We will involve staff in the implementation of this policy, for greater commitment and improved performance. 
  • We will update this policy at least once annually in consultation with staff and other stakeholders where necessary. 
  • ​​​​​​​We will provide staff with relevant environmental training. 

Transportation

  • We will reduce the need to travel, restricting to necessity trips only. 
  • We will promote the use of travel alternatives such as e-mail or video/phone conferencing. 
  • We will make additional efforts to accommodate the needs of those using public transport or bicycles. 
  • We will favor electrical or hybrid vehicles and maintain them rigorously to ensure ongoing efficiency. 
  • ​​​​​​​We favor freight with train and use sea freight as a second option. Air freight will only be used in case of emergency. 

Products

  • We will offer durable products to our customers, to prevent a throwaway society. 
  • We will offer a variety of products that is a better choice for the environment. 
  • We will incorporate circular economy in our product development. 
  • We will incorporate recycling and upcycling. 
  • ​​​​​​​We will test our products to comply with regulatory requirements. 

Suppliers

  • We will provide suppliers relevant sustainable training. 
  • We will demand that our suppliers comply with all regulatory requirements. 
  • We will demand that our suppliers continually improve and monitors their environmental performances. 
  • We will courage our suppliers to monitor their supply chain and their environmental performance. 
  • ​​​​​​​We will courage our suppliers to send us annually reports and do annually evaluation on their supply chain environmental performances. 

Monitoring and Improvement 

  • We will comply with and exceed all relevant regulatory requirements. 
  • We will continually improve and monitor environmental performance. 
  • We will continually improve and reduce environmental impacts. 
  • We will incorporate environmental factors into business decisions. 
  • We will increase employee awareness through training. 
  • ​​​​​​​We will review this policy and any related business issues at our monthly management meetings.
